Marion County Emergency Management issued an evacuation order for residents near the Great and Little Pee Dee Rivers on Tuesday afternoon. 

A Facebook post from the Marion County Emergency Management says residents in the areas along the Little Pee Dee River and the Great Pee Dee River “must evacuate immediately due to severe flooding.”

Emergency shelters are available at the following places, according to MCEM: 

  • AC Tolison Mullins Recreation Gym- 701 Wilcox Avenue, Marion, SC
  • 615 N. Park St., Mullins, SC 

MCEM says those evacuating should pack the following items:

  • Required medications
  • Adequate clothing and essential personal items
  • If going to a local emergency shelter, bring comfort items such as pillows and blankets
  • Special food items for small children or restricted diets

“You should not leave pets behind,” the post says. “Plan to board pets with veterinarians, kennels, or other facilities in non-vulnerable areas.” 

“Residents with pets can go to an emergency shelter and workers at the shelter will make arrangements for you and your pets,” according to the post.
