Highway 501 in Conway re-opened to two-way traffic early Saturday morning after closing Friday.
Currently, one lane is open in each direction from US 378 to Academy Street.
SCDOT advises that an emergency flood situation still exists on roads in the Conway area of Horry County.
As water levels continue to rise, this route will serve as the primary access between Conway and Myrtle Beach.
Drivers should anticipate congestion and slower speeds in this area. SCDOT urges motorists to use extreme caution, obey the directional signs and watch for updates on changing conditions.
501 Bypass closed in all directions in Conway at around 1:30 p.m. Friday and was supposed to re-open at 9:00 p.m. The road did not re-open until Saturday morning.
National Guard troops worked to add sandbags on top of the barrier wall to protect the road.
