MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The City of Myrtle Beach says a new, improved shoreline is in the works.
“Myrtle Beach is getting a new beach,” according to a Facebook post from the city. “Renourishment is underway as part of a $34 million project to put sand back on the Grand Strand’s beaches.”
Great Lakes Dredge and Dock, the contractor, is working northward from 24th Avenue North and southward from Withers Swash. The city posted a video that shows sand pumping out and the bulldozers moving it around. The city says the work area scene in the video should give residents an idea of how much wider the new beach will be.
