The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is asking for information or evidence relating to criminal activity reported on social media.
The GCSO is ” aware of stories circulating among social media platforms stating that there are people attempting to take advantage of people during this weather event,” according to a Facebook post from the GCSO.
“The current stories circulate around a person who owns a particular towing service stating that he may have mislead or criminally denied people of particular sand bag services,” the post states. “Social media postings are informative, but bona fide complainants and/or victims are needed for us to move forward.”
The GCSO is asking for any person with “known information or evidence relating to criminal activity in and around Georgetown County” to call 843-546-5101.
