On Tuesday, the Burgess Community gathered to host a free meal for people in need.

In addition to giving meals to people affected by flooding and Hurricane Florence, they also fed first repsonders and volunteers helping with recovery efforts.

“A lot of people, they don’t tell you everything, but you can tell when a person needs something. You can see the need that they need, and that’s why we decided that we were going to do this,” said Eula Mae Winningham, manager of Burgess Senior Center.

Burgess community members say since they had little to no impact from the storm, they wanted to help those less fortunate.
