Thirty years in prison. That is the sentence handed down to 22-year-old Meleke Stewart in the shooting death of Alton Daniels, according tot a press release from Solicitor Jimmy Richardson of the 15th circuit court. 

Stewart’s trial began Tuesday and he found guilty of murder, attempted armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. On Thursday Stewart was sentenced to 30 years in prison. 

On June 16, 2014, Myrtle Beach Police Officers were called to the area of Ninth Avenue and Yaupon Drive. There they found Daniels shot to death in his car. Through phone records and text messages police identified Stewart as a suspect. He was apprehended in Chester County. 

“Our hearts go out to the family of Mr. Daniels in their loss, but we hope today brought some closure,” Said Assistant Solicitor Johnathan Miles. “We appreciate all the work done by the officers with the Myrtle Beach Police Department in bringing this man to justice in Mr. Daniels’ death.”
