A section of SC-22 in Horry County will be closed on Thursday evening due to rising water levels.

SCDOT will close SC-22 from SC-905 to SC-90, between Conway and Longs, at 6 p.m. on Thursday because “the Waccamaw River is steadily rising along this section” of SC-22, according to a Facebook post from SCDOT.

SCDOT says U.S. 501 to Conway will be open and drivers traveling east of Conway should use U.S. 501.

To allow local residents access to areas isolated by flooding, SC-22 will remain open from U.S. 501 to SC-905 to SC-90 to U.S. 17, the post says.

SCDOT asks motorists to use caution as flooding could change conditions and to not go around barricades.
