Many communities in the WBTW News13 viewing area are hosting Halloween events leading up to the holiday.
Darlington “Scare on the Square”: will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., according the Greater Darlington Chamber of Commerce’s website.
Dillon Police Department’s Annual “Trunk-or-Treat”: will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m, a post on the department’s Facebook page says. The event will be at the corner of S. Railroad Avenue and Main Street at the South Plaza, and is open for kids aged 12 or younger.
Atalaya Fall Festival and Haunted Castle: will be held at the Huntington Beach State Park on Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., according to a press release from the state park. There will be two separate haunted house attractions: the “Little Scare” and the “Big Scare.” The “Little Scare” is a “a not-too-scary maze of creepy rooms for the younger children” and the “Big Scare” is “a Haunted Castle for the brave at heart.” The event will have carnival games, a photo booth, face painting, a balloon artist, arts and crafts, “vintage spooky cartoons” shown outside, a “toast your own marshmallow” fire pit, “local ghost stories around the bonfire,” and food and drinks available for purchase. Admission is $10 for adults, seven dollars for children aged six to 15, and free for children aged five and under. Regular park admission will be waived during the festival.
Broadway at the Beach “Halloween Bash on the Avenue”: will be on Saturday, Oct. 27, according to Broadway at the Beach’s website. Live music will begin at 7 p.m. and there will be an adult costume contests with prizes.
CCU Trunk O’Treat Festival: will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in ” the YY parking lot on S.C. 544, across from The Cove apartment complex near the University’s main campus,” according to the university’s website. “The festival includes candy giveaways, Halloween-themed games, slime making, bracelet and necklace making, face painting, and more. To compete in the trunk-decorating competition, there is a fee of either $10 or a bag of school supplies. All of the money raised from the trunk-decorating competition will be used to buy school supplies that will be donated to one of the partnering schools affected by Hurricane Florence.” The first-place winner of the trunk-decorating competition will receive a prize package and “participants will need to bring their own decorations, supplies and candy.”
United Way of Horry County and A Father’s Place’s “Treats on the Trail”: will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 3:30 until 6:30 p.m. at a Father’s Place, located at 1800 Racepath Ave. in Conway. Events include the “Born Learning Trail” and treats.
Broadway at the Beach trick-or-treating: will be on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Participating merchant locations will give out treats to all children in costume and there will be a fireworks show at 8 p.m.
2018 “Howl-o-Scream”: will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex, according to the NMB Parks and Recreation website. The event will have scare-free and scare zones. The North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department and Coastal Carolina University’s Recreation Management classes partner to covert the park and sports complex into a “spooktacular site” with activities such as hayrides, marshmallow roasting, and trick-or-treating. Tickets for this event are two dollars for adults, one dollar for children ages five to 14, and free for children under four.
Wilson High School Community Fall Festival: will be on Saturday, Oct. 27 from noon to 3 p.m. at Iola Jones Park in Florence, according to the school’s website. There will be food, music, and three-on-three basketball as well as college and financial aid information available. For more information, contact Wilson High School at 843-664-8440.
Francis Marion University “FM A’Glow”: will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, according to the university’s website. More than 400 carved and painted jack-o-lanterns will be on display on the FMU “Pumpkin Trail” from 6:30 until 9 p.m. The event will also have face painting by FMU theater design students, trick-or-treat handouts, and displays from Florence-area schools and FMU campus organizations. The event is free and open to the public.
SOS Health Care and Coastal Carolina University’s Fall Festival and Zombie Run: to be held on Sunday, Oct. 28 at CCU, according to a post on SOS Health Care’s Facebook page. The Fall Festival will run from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. and the Zombie Run will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Fall Festival is free and includes activities such as slime making, treat bag decorating, scarecrow building, and trick-or-treating. Early registration for the Zombie Run is $10 and day-of registration is $15.
“Halloween on the MarshWalk”: will be held in Murrells Inlet on Wednesday, Oct. 31, according to the MarshWalk’s website. Trick-or-treating along the MarshWalk begins at 5 p.m. and a children’s costume contest will be at 6 p.m. in front of Drunken Jack’s at the pirate statue. Prizes will be offered in the kid’s costume contest. An adult costume contest will begin at 7 p.m.
Barefoot Landing trick-or-treating: to be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Oct. 31, according to Barefoot Landing’s website.
