Police responded to an assault outside a popular Myrtle Beach bar on Tuesday and found a victim “laying on the ground in a pool of blood.”

Officers responded to Foster’s Cafe and Bar, located on N. Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach, early Tuesday morning for an assault, according to an incident report from the Myrtle Beach Police Department. Upon arriving, officers found the victim, “who was laying on the ground in a pool of blood.”

The victim, a 49-year-old man, also had lost about four to five teeth and had lacerations to his face, the report says. He was transported to the hospital.

Officers spoke with a witness, an employee of the bar, who stated she had served both the suspects and the victim that night, the report adds. She stated to police she knew the first names of the suspects and they had been to the bar a few times before. She also reported the suspects were twins, but she didn’t know where they lived, and that this was the second time the victim had been to the bar.

The employee also said the victim went outside the bar to go home when the assault happened.

Officers spoke with two other witnesses, the report further says. One of these witnesses told police there was an altercation out front and one of the suspects struck the victim with a beer bottle. After the victim “went down,” the witness said the suspects were kicking and beating the victim, at which point the witness intervened to get the suspects away from the victim. The suspects reportedly got into a vehicle with “drive time temporary tags that the offenders tore off the back”, and they fled southbound. The vehicle was described by witnesses as a Hyundai or Honda.

A BOLO was released for the vehicle and officers located photos of the suspects, who were “positively identified by witnesses.” Warrants will be sought for assault by mob.

The incident report lists 35-year-old David Lee Joyner as a suspect. A search of J. Reuben Long Detention Center’s online booking information finds that a 35-year-old David Lee Joyner and a 35-year-old Daniel Lee Joyner, who share the same birthdate and are listed as being from North Myrtle Beach, were both arrested in February of 2018 for public disorderly/public intoxication. Daniel was also charged with assault at the time.

In December of 2017, Daniel was arrested by Atlantic Beach Police for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
