The Florence County Sheriff’s Office is remembering a fallen deputy on the 5th anniversary of his death.

“Today we remember Deputy Joseph Antwine. Five years ago he left us after succumbing to injuries sustained while on duty,” said a post on the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. “Please keep his family, friends, and our department in your prayers today.”

Antwine, from Lake City, was 23-years-old when he died on Nov. 29, 2013. He was a member of the Florence County S.W.A.T. team.

His name was added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. His family also worked on a scholarship in his honor for cadets at his alma mater, The Citadel.
