CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – The Horry County planning commission voted Thursday night to recommend a proposal for more than 200 homes on the River Oaks Golf Plantation.

The development would go on more than 66 acres of land on the south side of River Oaks Drive near the Intracoastal Waterway and The Fairways condominium complex. That plan will go to county council for approval.

One development not moving forward would put about 3,000 homes in between Conway and Longs.

The 2,920 homes are proposed on nearly 1,500 acres off South Carolina Highway 905 between Old Reaves Ferry Road and Shaftesbury Glen.

Before Thursday’s meeting, the developer asked for the proposal to be deferred until March, in order to address issues with traffic.
