According to the South Carolina Department of Transportation, southbound I-95 at mile-marker 147 is closed after a semi crashed and damaged a bridge column. SCDOT sent out the first notice about the crash at 1:54 a.m. Friday.
On the SCDOT Twitter account at 8:27 a.m., the department confirmed the interstate was still closed southbound at Cartersville Hwy. A detour was in place according to the tweet.
The SCDOT also said a bridge inspection team was on site, and the closures and detour would remain in place until further notice.
SCDOT announced on Twitter around 12:40 p.m. on Friday that one southbound lane of I-95 in the area is open to traffic.
