Law enforcement agencies in Georgetown County investigated bomb threats on Thursday.
Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office deputies were on the scene of a bomb threat in Murrells Inlet, according to Jason Lesley, with the GCSO.
The call came from Morse Avenue, Lesley said.
News13 crews on scene confirm the road is blocked off. Residents told News13 crews deputies asked them to leave their homes.
In a Facebook post around 3:30 p.m., the GCSO said the threat was “unsubstantiated” and “residents of Murrells Inlet are safe, and traffic has been allowed to resume on Business 17 after it was blocked for precautionary reasons.”
Georgetown Police Captain Nelson Brown told News13 that officers responded to a separate incident at the Georgetown County Library in the City of Georgetown around 2 p.m. for a bomb threat. The library has been evacuated and they’re working to clear the scene.
