SCOTLAND COUNTY, NC (WBTW) – Scotland County deputies arrested a Laurinburg man wanted for assault on a child under 12 Thursday afternoon, according to Sheriff Ralph Kersey.

The sheriff’s office reports the Criminal Investigation Division arrested 37-year-old David Thomas Goins, of Laurinburg, Thursday on weapon and drug charges, in addition to serving him with multiple outstanding warrants.

Goins was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to manufacture, sale and delivery of a schedule III controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and simple possession of marijuana.

Sheriff Kersey adds that Goins was also served with outstanding warrants for receiving stolen goods, assault on a child under 12, assault on a female, resisting arrest and parole violation. Goins was placed in the Scotland County Detention Center.
