Police in the Robeson County  town of Pembroke arrested two people in connection to the rape and murder of a woman.

John Edward Jacobs, 32, of Pembroke, is charged with first degree murder and first degree forcible rape. Daniel Damiean Brooks, 29, is charged with concealing or failing to notify death of a person and accessory after the fact of first degree murder.

Pembroke Police arrested the men on Saturday based on witness statements and assistance from the community, according to a press release from the police department.  The release said both men were being held at the Robeson County Detention Center. Jacobs did not have a bond set pending a first appearance in court. Brooks has a secured bond of $500,000 set.

The victim was identified as Katina Locklear, 46, of the Saddletree community.

On Thursday, around 3 p.m. someone reported finding her body in a wooded area approximately 100 yards from the intersection of 7th Street and Main Street. Pembroke Police Chief Ed Locklear and Sgt. Det. Tim Locklear requested assistance from the NC State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) crime lab.
