Dozens of people braved the cold ocean water on Monday and took the plunge to support millions of Americans with cancer.
The Ninth Annual Polar Bear Plunge happened Monday afternoon at the Wyndham Seawatch Plantation in Myrtle Beach.
The plunge raises money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of the Grand Strand. It then goes toward cancer research and various services for cancer patients.
“I signed up because I’ve seen it a lot on tv and a bunch of people doing it, and I just thought it would be a fun idea to do it to get the adrenaline and make a good memory with my friends and family, and to honor my grandmother,” said participant Kelsey Broas.
Polar plungers enjoyed refreshments before their dip in the ocean and a party afterwards.
