FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – A Florence couple was arrested Monday after police said they abused and neglected an elderly woman.
According to Major Carlos Raines with the Florence Police Department, Nicholas Van Hodges, 34 and Sunni Haire Cassidy, 39, were charged with abuse and knowing and willful neglect of a vulnerable adult.
Raines said the couple was living with Hodges’ grandmother at an assisted living facility in Florence for three days.
Raines says the couple took the 76-year-old woman’s food along with her prescription drugs. They also are accused of pushing and shoving the elderly woman.
While staying at the facility, they also begged residents there for money, Raines said.
When management for the facility became aware they called police.
