CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – The Horry County Sheriff’s Office says they have received several reports of a phone scam where a caller identifies themselves as a supervisor with the Horry County Sheriff’s Warrant Division or J Reuben Long Detention Center.

According to a post on the sheriff’s office Facebook page, the scammer threatens to arrest the victim if they do not pay a fine or bond for failing to show for Grand Jury Duty.

The sheriff’s office says this is a scam and no one receiving a call like this should give the con artist any information or money. The sheriff’s office does not collect fines or bonds for any court, the post states. If you believe you have been a victim of this scam, contact the sheriff’s office at 843-915-5450.
