The person who died in a multi-vehicle crash on US Highway 17 in Horry County on Friday has been identified.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden identified the woman who died as Christine Russel. Russel was 62 years old and living in the Calabash, North Carolina area.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 1702 US 17 near Lakeside Drive in Little River around 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
All lanes were closed for a period of time. The lanes have since reopened.
A News13 photographer said three cars were involved in the incident. The vehicles were badly damaged.
According to Sonny Collins, with the SCHP, the driver of a Ford Focus pulled out of a private driveway onto Highway 17 when they hit an oncoming Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling south. The driver of the Equinox then struck a Honda Odyssey that was traveling north. The driver of the Ford Focus was killed.
