HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Keep Horry County Beautiful will conduct its annual Litter Index on Tuesday.

According to officials, volunteers will spend the day surveying 113 locations across the county. The locations include sections of roads, boat landings and parks. Volunteers will also survey illegal signs that may be posted.

Scores are given to each location based on the amount of litter volunteers see. A “one rating” is considered good, while a “four rating” in considered bad. Horry County scored a 2.15 in 2015. It scored an overall score of 1.8 in 2014.

The Keep Horry County Beautiful Committee has conducted litter indexes annually since 2011.
