PICKENS, S.C. — A woman’s body was found near a public boat ramp at the Saluda River in Pickens County Sunday morning.
The Pickens County Coroner has identified the woman as 35-year-old Farah Reza Khan of Townville.
Khan leaves behind four school-aged children, her sister said on a GoFundMe site that was created to raise money for funeral expenses.
According to Pickens County Sheriff’s Deputies, their department responded around 9 a.m. to the boat ramp off of Buck Skin Road after a call was made to 911 about a female who appeared to be injured or possibly dead.
Authorities found Khan’s body at the scene with severe trauma to the head.
The coroner says Khan died after being shot in the head. It was not self-inflicted.
Khan, who had 2 boys and 2 girls, was a logistics manager at IWS International Warehousing Services in Pendelton, S.C., according to her Facebook profile.
“My baby sister was killed and has left 4 kids behind. My mom is taking this very hard and now has to raise my sister’s kids. The cops are trying to find her killer. Please pray for my family!,” Indera Khan wrote on the GoFundMe page.
Family members told WSPA-TV that Khan went to the movies on Friday night and never came back.
The family didn’t know she was dead until officials knocked on their front door and told them about the tragedy.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death as a homicide until other information can be received from a more extensive examination of Khan’s body.
Deputies have assigned a team of Detectives that are tracking down Khan’s activities and locations where she may have been hours before her death.
No weapon was recovered at the scene. There were no witnesses who have come forward at this time.
