MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – An effort to install more than 800 surveillance cameras in Myrtle Beach is in its final phase, according to local police.
Myrtle Beach Police Chief Warren Gall told Myrtle Beach City Council Tuesday it has started an assessment of the project’s fourth phase. Officials originally hoped to have the project completed at the end of January, but poor weather has caused delays.
Department spokesman Lt. Joey Crosby told News13 the department is also working to address camera glitches and adjustments. He said the department is analyzing camera angles and moving some cameras to different locations to gain better coverage.
Crosby added the department is also resolving connectivity issues between the actual cameras and surveillance system.
According to reports, Phase 4 of the project involves 248 cameras being installed at some major intersections throughout Myrtle Beach.
Crosby told News13 the city hopes to complete the $2.1 million project in the coming weeks.
