MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The trailer for the upcoming film Magic Mike XXL was released Wednesday. People along the Grand Strand remember this summer when film crews and actors were in Myrtle Beach shooting for the movie.

The original 2012 film starred Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey and centered around the world of male stripping. It grossed about $160 million worldwide.

The new film is about a road trip from Tampa (the setting of the first film) to Myrtle Beach and is called “Magic Mike XXL.”

Crews were along the Grand Strand during the Labor Day weekend filming scenes for “Magic Mike XXL.”

Red Zone Pictures Inc. requested a film permit from the City of Myrtle Beach for August 30 – 31 and was seen filming areas near the Sky Wheel, 2nd Avenue Pier, the Slingshot, and Plyler Park.

Producers filmed in early November in the downtown Myrtle Beach area, according to Myrtle Beach City documents.

The exact release date has not been released, but it’s believed to be opening sometime in Summer 2015.
