As luck may have it, for Sebastian and Tobias they couldn’t have found a better place to call home.

“I think animals live in the present moment…they are not thinking about yesterday, they are thinking about right now and right now they are happy,” mentioned Jackie Kirven, Darlington County Humane Society.

However, it’s a past that even most loyal pooch lovers may find alarming.

Sebastian and Tobias, along with three other dogs were living in unfit conditions.

Darlington Police say the house was covered in dog feces, dirty dishes and trash.

When officers arrived Saturday to investigate the whereabouts of a missing teenager they discovered the animals.

It wasn’t until the Darlington County Humane Society contacted the sheriff’s office to find out where the pups were that it clicked.

“Well we recognized these as two of our dogs,” said Kirven.

Two of the dogs were adopted from the shelter months prior and within a day they, plus three were back home.

“Sometimes that darkest hour is just before the dawn.  So now maybe everything will be up and out for them and they can have a good outcome,” Kirven explained.

We did learn two of the five dogs are now with new owners.

The humane society says when the two were adopted previously the home was inspected and clean at the time of adoption.
