LOCAL REPORTS    CLEMSON – West Virginia scored three unearned runs in the fifth inning to beat No. 24 Clemson 6-1 and clinch a season-opening series 2-1.

The Mountaineers pounded out 11 hits. Shaun Corso went 2-for-5 with two RBI including a solo homerun in the second. Four Mountaineers had multiple hits.

Clemson (1-2) had 10 hits, but produced only one run. Tyler Krieger went 3-for-3. Reed Rohlman drove in the Tigers’ only run of the day with a single in the seventh.

Clemson starter Brady Koerner (0-1) suffered the loss despite striking out eight in four innings. He gave up one run on three hits and three walks.
