Sometimes the recipe for kindness may be just down the street.

It helps that Robert Outlaw has the ingredients.

“We got gas right here you know.  We don’t lose power,” he smiled as he walked through his restaurant’s kitchen.

Monday night’s winter ice storm left thousands in Marlboro County without power.

Outlaw owns and runs Outlaws Restaurant in McColl.  With more than enough space, along with heaters and of course food he decided to extend a helping hand.

“That’s when I went on Facebook and posted, you know, people that are out of power you want to stay warm come on out to outlaw’s,” mentioned outlaw.

However, soon after his post were the comments that followed.

“A few people that post me said they didn’t have the money to come out.  We had a father, he didn’t have any power.  His son came out and got some food for him,” he mentioned.

With the addition of other families, people walked in and left full.

The total bill was $89.

The price was free of charge.

“We try to do what we can do.  It is always a blessing around the corner,” said Outlaw.

“Just for an individual to show that he cares…I think that speaks volumes for him,” added Wayne Lockey, a regular at outlaws.

It’s kindness on display, for everyone in town to see.

“We come together…we come together.  We help each other,” outlaw mentioned.
