CALABASH, NC (Press Release) – Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office have charged a North Myrtle Beach man, along with a female companion on charges stemming from an incident that occurred on Thursday morning.

Luther Stanley, 39, of North Myrtle Beach is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, second degree kidnapping, and assault on a female.

Stanley entered the CVS Pharmacy located at 9810 Ocean Hwy in Calabash at approximately 9:30 on Thursday morning, threatened two with a knife and demanded the drug Oxycontin. He then ran out of the store and got into the passenger side of a silver Ford driven by Jennifer Hailey Moreland, 21 of North Myrtle Beach, which took off in an unknown direction.

Stanley and Moreland were located in the Myrtle Beach area last night.


Stanley was taken into custody by Myrtle Beach officials and will face additional charges there before being transferred to Brunswick County where he will face his charges. Bond will be set at that time.

Moreland was brought back to Brunswick County and charged with aiding and abetting an armed robbery and misdemeanor child abuse. She is currently being held in the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $100,000 bond.
