FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) – Students in the Pee Dee competed in this year’s academic challenge at Francis Marion University Saturday morning.
The finals followed the round robin round. In Division I, Wilson beat West Florence 36 to 26. In Division II, Lake View beat Johnsonville 27 to 21.
All teams received medals and were judged by Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions winner and Pee Dee native Ben Ingram.
“(It) Feels great this is a big stage too. There are a lot of great players here from the high school level, and, later on, in the middle school level. They will be some great players too, but it’s just great to see them in action it was a lot of fun,” said Ingram.
News 13’s Bob Juback moderated Saturday’s final round. He’s been moderating the “Pee Dee Academic Challenge Tournament” for years! The superintendents voted to name the tournament’s trophy after the long-timer moderator.
Winners received the first ever “Bob Juback Academic Challenge Championship Trophy.”
“It certainly wasn’t expected. I love doing this event I’ve done it for a long time but to have my name on the trophy, it is certainly an honor,” said Juback.
Another academic challenge will be on March 14th.
Bob’s been moderating the challenge for 15 years.
