ENGLEWOOD, FL – A massive alligator some say resembles a dinosaur was supposedly spotted last weekend on a Florida golf course.
The Myakka Pines Golf Club in Englewood, Florida says the picture of the mammoth gator was taken on their golf course.
Many on the Facebook page have questioned if the picture was Photoshopped, but the golf club says it’s in fact real. The picture has gone viral, being shared almost 5,000 times since it was posted Saturday.
The golf club said the gator was spotted on the No. 7 green moving from one pond to another.
“Oh, it’s real,” Dick Huber said.
Huber was one of the golfers who spotted the gator.
Last Friday, Huber and some friends were playing a round of golf when they approached the animal.
“I saw him so I grabbed my phone, started taking pictures, and I took several pictures of him walking up on the green and laying down by the golf ball,” Huber said. “I guess he was around an 11-footer, something like that. Big enough to scare ya.”
The gator stayed on the green for about five minutes and later crawled away, he said. Huber admits he should have been more careful about taking the pictures.
“I got a little closer than I should have. I wanted to take a good picture and I got closer than I needed to,” he said.
It’s not uncommon to see alligators at this golf course.
Myakka Pines Golf Club is built on a former swamp, and wildlife can be seen throughout the course.
