SELMA, N.C. – Six people were injured in a school bus wreck Tuesday morning in Selma.
The wreck occurred at N.C. Highway 39 and Little Divine Road just after 7:50 a.m. and involved a school bus, SUV and a third vehicle.
The bus was headed to Selma Elementary School.
Preliminary information shows that a silver Saturn SUV was traveling eastbound when it went through a stop sign and was hit by the bus at the intersection of Highway 39 and Little Divine Road. The school bus then hit the third vehicle.
Six injuries have been reported. The driver of the third vehicle was transported to the hospital and three adults and one child in an SUV were transported to WakeMed. The child riding in the SUV was in a car seat. Another additional child from the school bus was transported to the hospital by parents and the bus driver suffered minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital.
Multiple emergency crews responded to the wreck including two fire crews, 10 ambulances, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers.
