MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) – A New York company that specializes in health care alarms and systems that monitor patients is moving its headquarters to Myrtle Beach this summer, meaning almost 40 new jobs.

Local media outlets report that Star Life Safety plans to being operating in Myrtle Beach by June 1. The company plans to move in after renovating a 7,600-square foot building and plans to hire 36 workers.

One of the partners in the company, John Cook, has relatives in Southport, North Carolina and says he started considering the move last year.
