MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A Myrtle Beach woman was arrested after police said she intentionally tried to run over a man this week after getting into an argument over having enough money for a “cinnamon bun” purchase at a local store.
According to arrest warrants, the incident happened on 28th Avenue North when Amy Joe Derepentigny, 34, got into a verbal altercation with the man. During the argument, Derepentigny told the man”if you step in front of this car, I’ll run you over!”
Police said she then rapidly accelerated her 2000 Ford Expedition forward and attempted to strike the man while a 13-year-old child was inside the vehicle.
There’s no word if anyone was injured in the assault.
Derepentigny was charged with attempted murder and unlawful neglect of a child.
