Georgetown, SC (WBTW) – An early morning boating accident sent one hunter to an area hospital in Georgetown County.
Lt. Jr. Grade Phillip Vanderweit of the U.S. Coast Guard says a recreational boat crashed into the lighthouse dock in the Winyah Bay in Georgetown early Thursday morning.
A press release from the SC Department of Natural Resources says two duck hunters were in dense fog when they struck the dock. Though neither hunter was ejected from the boat, one person was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center for minor injuries.
The US Coast Guard asisted with bringing the boaters safely back to land.
The crash is under investigation by the US Department of Natural Resources.
