Authorities are now looking for a car that is linked to the case of a 25-year-old woman who was found dead in the ocean just off an island near Charleston on Friday morning.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office said that Joanna Joly, age 25, of Mount Pleasant was found dead in the ocean at Sullivan’s Island.

Sullivan’s Island Police and Fire Department responded to reports of a possible body in the water just after 11 am Friday.

Joly’s cause of death has been ruled as drowning, the Charleston County Coroner’s said on Friday afternoon.

On Monday, the Coroner’s Office pointed out that the manner of death was identified as “pending.”

Based on the Sheriff’s Office preliminary investigation, which included interviews and the collection of physical evidence, “there was no immediate evidence found that would indicate foul play is involved in the victim’s death,” officials said.

However, detectives said they needed the public’s help in locating the victim’s vehicle.

Joly, who was originally from Sandwich, Mass., graduated from Sandwich High School in 2008 and attended UNH and College of Charleston, her obituary said.. She was working at Cinebarre in Mt. Pleasant at the time of her death, according to the obituary.

“She enjoyed all animals, especially her cat “Tuna”. Her passion was horses. She realized her dream of owning a horse when she bought “Fenway” when she was in high school. Recently she worked at Old South Carriage Company in Charleston taking care of all the draft horses. “Earl” was her favorite,” her obituary said.

A visitation with family will be Tuesday  from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich.

A funeral mass will be Wednesday, April 1, at 11:00 AM, at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Osterville. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Osterville.
