Authorities say that Horry County Councilman Robert Paul Grabowski has died, of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, at the PTR Industries gunmaking plant in the Aynor area on Tuesday.

According to a police press release, at approximately 5:24 PM officers with the Horry County Police Department responded to a 911 call at PTR Industries on Hwy. 319 near Aynor.

Upon arrival officers found the deceased victim in an open area at the rear of the business suffering from a gunshot wound.

Detectives with Horry County’s Major Crimes and Crime Scene Investigations along with the Coroners office responded.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge told News13 that a person had died in the incident at PTR Industries, but he said it was not a homicide and no suspect was at large.

An autopsy on Wednesday at Grand Strand Hospital confirmed the cause of death as a self-inflicted gun shot wound, Edge later said.

PTR Industries, a gunmaker that has re-located to Horry County from Connecticut , is located at 101 Cool Springs Drive.
