MYRTLE BEACH – Forest Park, Va. outlasted Carolina Forest 1-0 in 9 innings Tuesday in the Mingo Bay Classic.
Both squads got strong pitching performances in the contest. Andrew Brong struck out two in the top of the first for Carolina Forest. Thomas Thorgesen answered with a pair of strikeouts in the bottom half of the inning for Forest Park.
The loss denied Panthers coach Jack Jolly of his 400th career win. He’ll try to reach the milestone again Wednesday when Carolina Forest hosts Sanquoit, N.Y. at 6 p.m.
