FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Two men face attempted murder charges days after a shooting at the McDonalds parking lot on West Lucas Street Sunday night.
The press release from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office says Kelton Lane Driggers, 18, and his father, Luther Eric Driggers, 43, were arrested by deputies Thursday. Kelton Driggers has been charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm into a vehicle. Luther Driggers has been charged with accessory after the fact of a felony.
Deputies were called to the hospital around 8:30 p.m. Sunday after a gunshot victim arrived for treatment. Investigators later determined the shooting happened at the McDonalds off of Highway 52.
Kelton Driggers is accused of approaching a car in the restaurant parking lot and shooting the victim, who was sitting in the passenger seat, after a brief discussion. Witnesses told deputies Driggers continued to shoot into the car the victim was in several times as the car left the parking lot.
Kelton’s father was reportedly at the scene during the shooting and drove his son away from the crime scene without helping the victim of calling law enforcement.
Both men are being held at the Florence County Detention Center pending a bond hearing. The press release from the sheriff’s office says the investigation is ongoing and more charges and arrests are possible.
