Is it a lump, bump or bruise, or does it need more specialized attention?

It’s a question that parents often face when their student athlete takes a hit or falls on the court or the playing field. To alleviate fears or to get a student athlete into treatment if needed, Waccamaw Orthopaedics and Spine is offering free sports injury screenings for teens and children 8 years and older on April 18.

The clinic will be held from 8-10 a.m. at the Murrells Inlet office of Waccamaw Orthopaedics and Spine, located at 4040 Highway 17 Bypass, Suite 101.

Dr. William Greer, a board-certified orthopedic and sports medicine surgeon, Dr. Gavin Vaughn, a board-certified sports medicine physician, and Shantae Siefert, a certified physician assistant, will staff the free clinic, which is open to all middle and high school student athletes, as well as recreational and travel league participants 8 years and older.
