LORIS, S.C. (PRESS RELEASE) – The Loris Fire Department has reinforced its cooperation with the South Carolina Forestry Commission this spring. The LFD was awarded a 50/50 Forestry Grant this winter via a SCFC Federal Wildfire program and has started implementing the grant with purchase of new Personnel Protective Equipment for Loris Firefighters this spring wildfire season. This wildfire grant is $5,000 from the federal government and $5,000 from local city funding and will ensure our local firefighters have adequate safety protection on Wildfires. Attached is a photo of some of the new gear.
In addition to receiving the Forestry Grant the LFD is joining up with the SCFC for the upcoming Loris Chamber of Commerce Spring Festival and Outdoor Expo on Saturday April 25th 8am – 3pm. The LFD and SCFC will have information about wildfire dangers, fire safety, controlled burning and firewise safe communities.
