Jamarlo Phillips joined the WBTW news team in March 2015, as a Digital Journalist covering the Pee Dee. He hails from Smiths Station, Alabama and is excited to start his career in the Palmetto state.
He is a graduate of Troy University in Troy, Alabama where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism and minor in Leadership Studies. Go Trojans!
During his collegiate years, he anchored, reported, and produced for the award-winning student-produced Troy TrojanVision news. Jamarlo had the privilege to intern at WTVM in Columbus, Ga. His most memorable moment of his internship was helping cover the arrival of President Barack Obama in Atlanta, Ga concerning the Ebola outbreak.
Jamarlo is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Aside from bringing you the latest coverage, Jamarlo enjoys the outdoors, meeting new people, spending time with family and friends, working out, traveling, catching up on the most recent horror films, and speaking to youth about the importance of education, leadership, and hard work.
