SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) – A former police officer in the Spartanburg County town of Wellford has been charged with misconduct in office.
The State Law Enforcement Division said in a statement Thursday that 33-year-old Johnathan Prentis Gash is charged with mishandling evidence and driving under suspension.
An arrest warrant states that Gash is accused of possession of evidence belonging to the Wellford Police Department in the trunk of his personal vehicle.
He also is accused of possessing non-submitted evidence in the trunk of his assigned patrol vehicle.
It was not clear if he has a lawyer.
