Saturday marks the six-year anniversary since Brittanee Drexel, who was seventeen at the time, went missing during spring break in Myrtle Beach. Drexel’s mom is planning a walk and vigil to remember her daughter.

“You think about it every hour of the day, minute of the day, second of the day. It’s your child,” said Dawn Drexel.

Dawn Drexel is Brittanee’s mom.

She says the lack of leads is frustrating in her daughter’s case.

“I’ve been told we don’t’ know what happened to your daughter the night she disappeared. Each year gets harder, and harder. Not knowing where your child is is horrible,” said Drexel.

She says one thing that has helped keep her hopes alive is the support she receives from the Myrtle Beach community.

“Businesses will put up her flier. Everyone remembers the day she went missing,” said Drexel.

On Saturday, at 7:30 pm Drexel will walk the same route her daughter walked six years earlier on the night she disappeared.

When they reach their destination they will have a candle-light vigil.

Local restaurants donated money for t-shirts to help spread the word.

Drexel says she knows it has been years but she is confident someone still knows something that will help find her daughter.

“That’s what the vigil is about; is hope. We hope that she is still out there and that we can bring her home,” she said.

Tomorrow night’s walk will begin at 7:30 at the Bar Harbor Hotel on South Ocean Boulevard; followed by the vigil at Hurl Rock Park.
