DILLON, S.C. (WBTW) -Residents in Dillon started off their Saturday morning early with a “Hands Down, Stop the Violence” march.

The march started at Roses off of Martin Luther King Drive and the goal was to address the violence occurring in the community. Dillon resident Tywanda Rogers organized the march.

Rogers said, “The Dillon community is going downhill. How can we sit and let our kids and grandchildren grow up in a community where violence is continuously becoming a problem.”

She says there needs to be more opportunities for the children in the community that will keep them from getting involved with crime.

Rogers adds, even though Dillon is a small community she says what is happening in Baltimore can’t possibly happen here in Dillon.
