NORTH MYRTLE BEACH (WBTW) – Testing shows a section of beach in North Myrtle Beach is safe for swimmers after a sewage spill, city officials said.

A 500 foot wide section of beach at 6th Avenue South closed Monday morning after a sewer pipe was discovered. The city said between 300 and 400 gallons of sewage leaked into the water before the break was fixed.

On Wednesday afternoon, the city reopened the beach and removed warning signs for swimmers.
