Myrtle Beach (WBTW) – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans and Carolina Mudcats series this week was not played as scheduled after a bus crash in Columbus County earlier this week injured several Mudcats players.
In a statement Wednesday night, Myrtle Beach City Spokesperson Mark Kruea said the Mudcats are back home in North Carolina where players are under medical evaluation.
The Pelicans announced that anyone with tickets or vouchers for any of the three games that were not played this week can exchange them for a ticket of equal or lesser value to any future Pelicans’ regular season game during the 2015 regular season or beyond, subject to availability.
Previously, the team planned Military Appreciation events at Thursday night’s game. Due to the schedule change, the Pelicans plan to honor members of the military and their families at the July 2 game against Salem.
Kruea said Military Appreciation Days events in the city will continue as scheduled this month. Thursday and Friday activities include a version of the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall, the Agent Orange Quilt of Tears and two Vietnam-era helicopters. On Saturday, there is a parade on Ocean Boulevard parade with J.R. Martinez as grand marshal and the big Family Picnic, featuring live music from the Andrew Theilen Big Band, exhibits, picnic fare and more.
