ANDERSON, S.C. – Crews are working to battle a fire in Anderson Monday where officials say one worker was killed and another was hospitalized.
Firefighters were called to OnmiSource Copororation on North Gossett Street and found a large plume of smoke coming from the metal recycling center.
The plume could be seen for miles in all directions.
Investigators tell us eight or nine people were at the work site when it happened.
Firefighters, police and the coroner’s office, as well as a HAZMAT crew are on the scene. American Red Cros disaster-trained volunteers are also working to help emergency response crews.
According to authorities, they were called there three weeks ago for a pile of batteries that caught fire.
