A man was struck and killed by a car around 3:00 am Saturday morning on East Liberty Street in front of the Scotchman convenience store in Marion, according to Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson.
According to officials, the victim is identified as 54 year-old Michael Briggs of Marion.
Officials say he was was either lying in the street or walking but he can’t confirm due to a continuing investigation.
An autopsy will happen in Charleston. The Marion County Police Department and Highway Patrol are investigating.
