CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) – A proposed new school on the south end of the Grand Strand has been tabled by the Horry County Board of Education.
Originally approved in April, the board terminated the agreement citing that the site does not meet the districts needs. According to the Board of Education the contract stated that there was an option to terminate before July 27, 2015 after a Due Diligence Period.
The school would have been developed on 30 acres of land as part of a larger development on a 169-acre, wooded site near the intersection of Big Block Road and Highway 707.
According to county spokesperson Lisa Bourcier, the proposal for commercial and residential development has passed second reading before Horry County Council and will be approved if it passes third and final reading at council’s next meeting in July.
