GEORGETOWN – Terry Kinard is in the College Football Hall of Fame. He has a national title ring from his time at Clemson. And he played in the NFL.
Suffice it to say, he’s well qualified to teach the game of football, and that’s what he’s doing this week in Georgetown. Kinard opened a two-day football camp at Georgetown High School Thursday.
It’s part of USA Football’s FUNdamentals program. Kinard got a grant from the NFL to host it. He’s lived in Pawleys Island for about five years and says he saw a need for such a program in the area.
“We’re trying to teach them good fundamentals about the game of football – they love it,” he said. “And also (teach) that there’s a lot of carryover from the football field as far as sportsmanship and how they carry themselves and things such of that nature. So I’m proud to be able to pass some of my knowledge on to them.”
The camp runs through Friday.
