A 911 recording indicates Westburg called law enforcement Friday morning to report he had shot an acquaintance.

When authorities arrived, they found Westburg standing outside his home. Police went inside and found the body of 34-year-old Larry Joshua Goodson, who also lives in Hampstead. Westburg said the shooting occurred as the victim was threatening him.

Westburg is being held without bond in the Pender County jail. Online records didn’t indicate whether he has an attorney.
